Electronic Voting Under Fire

This entry was posted on 11/15/2006 4:14 PM and is filed under Voting/Electronic Voting.

Electronic Voting will increasingly come under fire from two separate entities:

Those who instinctively don't trust it.

Those who want to manipulate the outcome of elections.

While that may sound like a contridiction, its not.

The first group may subscribe to conspiracy thinking or just may simple find computers unreliable and not very secure.

The second group may not be part of a conspiracy, per se, but they may feel strongly enough about the outcome of an election that sympatico insticts to allow any questionable paper ballot to fall their way. If one follows the voting process it just plain works out that the folks involved tend to pool up by party and amongst them are party activists.

One doesn't have to search too hard to find "Chicago Style" election adventures.

The point of this entry is to point out that the pressure to return to the bad old days is building.
